Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil

A Unique Liquid Hop Product

Amplifire™ Oil is a farm–fresh liquid hop flavour and aroma product made from unkilned fresh hops, and is designed to enhance the taste of beer. Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil has no bitterness, and is a highly flowable liquid at cool, warm, and room temperatures, as well as being beer and water soluable. It is designed mostly for cold side additions, but can be used hot side in the whirlpool. Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil can also boost yields by reducing waste and beer loss and improving brewhouse efficiency, and is exceptionally cost-effective.

Flowable Hop Oil Made From Farm Fresh ‘ Wet ’ New Zealand Hops, Not Repurposed Hop Pellets

What sets Clayton Hops™ Amplifire™ Hop Oil apart from other advanced hop products is what it's made from. Not only is Amplifire Hop Oil available in hop specific varieties, but it's created from the finest farm-fresh New Zealand hops which are processed 'wet' and unkilned less than 24 hours after harvest in house at Clayton Hops™ using a patent-pending process to preserve their volatile aromatics. Other flowable hop products will often use repurposed hop pellets.

Why Does Clayton Hops™ Use Fresh Hops in Amplifire Hop Oils?
Hop aromatics are lost to the atmosphere when hops are kiln dried. The fresh 'wet' hops which go into Amplifire™ Hop Oil still have all these aromatics preserved.
Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil mitigates against the grassy, vegetal notes common with fresh hop beers because it utilises oils direct from the lupulin glands, with no vegetal matter.
The vegetal matter in a T90 pellet can also introduce grassy or green notes and contribute to polyphenol astringency, which isn't an issue with Amplifire™ Hop Oil - instead, think brighter, cleaner, vivid aromatics from volatile aroma compounds like free thiols and monoterpenes, providing lively and delicate top notes.

Where to use Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil

Flexible in your process, flowable at cool, warm, & room temperatures, beer & water soluable, & won't stick to equipment

Hot Side Additions – Whirlpool

Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil is not intended to be used in the kettle, but makes a great whirpool addition. Amplifire Fresh Hop Oil can be used at up to 100% pellet replacement in the whirlpool for greatly increased efficiency. A good starting rate though is 25-50% hop pellet replacement, and then adjusting accordingly depending on the final flavour outcome.
Top Tip: For maximum flavour impact, chil the whirlpool wort to <85°C prior to any oil or hop pellet addition.

Cold Side Additions – Dry Hop Day 1, Dry Hop Active Fermentation, & Dry Hop Post-Fermentation, & Brite Tank

Use Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil during active fermentation to enhance biotransformation.
Add Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil post fermentation for clean bursts of aroma where it will be most effective.
Use in conjunction with T90 Hop Pellets during dry hopping to increase efficiency and reduce losses without sacrificing beer quality or mouthfeel.
Start with 25-50% hop pellet replacement, and then adjusting accordingly depending on the final flavour outcome.
Top Tip: Dose Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil prior to Carbonation to avoid any potential impact on head retention.

Dosing: Dose Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil into 2-3L of your beer to disperse before dosing into the tank, or you can dispense in warm water first.
Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil can also be dosed inline to the brite tank.
Dosing oil during transfer stage (post filtration) is recommended for superior mixing and flavour development.
The hop oil is most effective with sufficient mixing and >24hrs contact time.

Substitution Rates, Dosing & Efficiencies

Always shake the bottle well.
In dry hopping, Hop Pellets can only offer up to 30-40% efficiency of potential flavour absorption due to vegetal matter and beer loss. Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil is rich in highly desirable volatile aroma compounds - including desirable compounds that are absent from hop pellets due to the hop drying and pelletising process. This gives it far higher transfer rates of the desirable flavours you want into your finished beer.

As a starting point, try a substitution rate of 50:1 T90 hop pellet replacement ratio. 100ml of Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil delivering the same aromatic hit as 5kg of T90 Pellets.

Suggested dosing rates based on beer style:
Lagers: Dry Hopping Range: 0.5 - 5g/L Starting Trial Dose Rates: 3 - 5 ml/hL
Pale Ale: Dry Hopping Range: 4 - 10g/L Starting Trial Dose Rates: 10 - 15 ml/hL
IPA: Dry Hopping Range: 8 - 15g/L Starting Trial Dose Rates: 15 - 20 ml/hL
Hop Water: Starting Trial Dose Rates: 3 -5 ml/hL

Recommended Storage

Unopened
Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil should ideally be stored cool in a fridge, but can be stored at ambient temp out of direct sunlight. Shelf life is 2 years when commercially sealed.

Why Choose Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil?

Consistent Flavour & Aroma
Adds beautiful unique top notes and complexity into beers. Brighter, cleaner (no vegetal matter) and more consistent.

Imparts no bitterness
With less vegetal matter, Amplifire™ pellets reduce wort absorption, helping you retain more beer in the fermenter.

Higher Yield, Higher Profit
Substitute some hop pellets for oil at whirlpool and/or dry hopping to increase beer yields and revenue (For every kg of T90s, you could be losing 8-10L of beer).

Easy to Use
Flowable liquid at cool, room and warm temperatures - and it's both beer and water soluable. Use in whirlpool, fermenter, or brite tank. Amplifire Oil works nicely alongside T90 Pellets too!

Easy to Trial
You can benchtop trial with one or two drops of Amplifire Fresh Hop Oil and 150ml of beer.

Minimises Waste
100% absorbed into your beer. Fast filtration, and does not stick to equipment.

No Hop Creep
Free of hop-creep inducing monosaccharides and enzymes

Potentially Increase Beer Shelf Life
Reduced oxidation potential compared to conventional dry hopping with pellets, and no plant material means reduced risk of those compounds oxidising too.

Light stable
Does not cause light-struck off-flavours

Easy Transport & Storage
Occupies less space than boxes of pellets, and can be stored at ambient if absolutely necessary.

Low Carbon Footprint
As low as 0.35 kgs CO₂e per 100 L of beer (excluding composting) - minimal processing compared to hop pellets, low dosing rate, simple packaging, and renewable energy is used for processing.

Faster, Fresher, Better
Unlike competitor products, Amplifire Fresh Hop oil is made from fresh, undried whole hop cones processed less than 24 hours after harvest, delivering vivid, true-to-variety aromas.

Made by a Bunch of Kiwis
Grown and produced in New Zealand and made locally. No shipping off-site for third party processing. Carries the FernMark seal of provenance from the New Zealand government.

Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets

Cryogenically Enriched Pellets

Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets deliver clean, intense flavour with fewer green, grassy & astringent notes owing to their reduced vegetal matter when compared to a T90 pellet. Clayton Hops™ uses a patent-pending cryogenic concentrated lupulin pellet process to separate whole hop cones into lupulin and plant material in a nitrogen-rich/low oxygen environment – limiting oxidation and enhancing quality. Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets can deliver up to twice the lupulin and oils of a T90 pellet.

The first and currently only cryogenic concentrated lupulin pellet processing facility in the Southern Hemisphere

How Does Clayton Hops Make Amplifire™ Cryogenic Lupulin Pellets?
Whole hop cones are baled, cryogenically frozen, and then broken up. A unique patent-pending process separates whole hop cones into lupulin and plant material in a nitrogen heavy and extremely low temperature environment. The lupulin, packed with resin and containing sought-after acids and oils, is then pelletised along with some plant material to produce a concentrated lupulin pellet with around twice the intensity of a T90 pellet.

Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellet Technical Data Sheet

Where to use Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets

Use a lot like a T90 pellet but in smaller quantities for the same punch, increasing your efficiencies an reducing losses

Hot Side Additions – Late Kettle

Use Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets as a Late Kettle addition in the same way you would a T90 pellet. Clayton Hops™ does not recommend using Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets in Early Kettle Additions as you may lose aroma impact of the product here.
Top Tip: Cryogenic processing means you get more lupulin and less vegetal matter when compared to a T90 pellet so less Amplifire™ Pellets are required to give the same impact. This which reduces your wort losses (due to absorption) and increases your brewing efficiencies.

Hot Side Additions – Whirlpool

Amplifire™ Pellets can be used in the whirlpool in the same way T90 hop pellets are used, and as with the kettle, fewer Amplifire™ Pellets are required compared to T90 hop pellets which can reduce costs and boost beer yields by lowering trub losses.
Top Tip: To minimise IBU pick-up and maximise flavour, if possible, chill whirlpool wort to <85°C prior to adding Amplifire™ Pellets.

Cold Side Additions – Dry Hop Day 1, Dry Hop Active Fermentation, & Dry Hop Post-Fermentation

Boost flavour and aroma with a fermentation vessel addition whilst also reducing beer losses.
Top Tip: Don’t add Amplifire™ Concentrated Lupulin Pellets in your Brite Tank – instead choose Amplifire™ Fresh Hop Oil which can be dosed inline to the brite tank for clean bursts of aroma.
