Description
Born from a special collaboration between BESTMALZ and our own Left Handed Giant, BEST NP Ultra-Pale Malt is crafted from carefully selected brewing barley varieties and is designed to deliver an exceptionally light malt character and colour.
Left Handed Giant asked just what it would take to produce an ultra pale malt, to which BESTMALZ replied "No Problem!". Following up on the smash hit of the immensely popular (and already low colour) BESTMALZ BEST Heidelberg, BEST NP Ultra-Pale Malt is a premium German malt with exceptionally low colour which is a true game-changer - it has a maximum colour of just 2.3 EBC but is still fully compliant with Germany's immensely strict Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) for malts - making it unique in the market.
During production, the specially selected malting barley is processed under incredibly gentle conditions that minimise colour development while ensuring consistent quality and excellent storage stability. Its subtle flavour profile and very pale appearance make it an excellent choice for brewers seeking to produce bright, delicate beer styles.
Despite setting new benchmarks for low colour, BEST NP Ultra-Pale Malt doesn't compromise on quality, delivering high enzymatic potential with a Diastatic power of ≥ 250 wk, making it ideal as an enzyme-rich base for all beers. The gentle malting process ensures great shelf stability, and leaves only a subtle malt note with no aroma dominance, creating the perfect blank canvas on which to layer expressive hops.
BESTMALZ BEST NP Ultra-Pale Malt was first launched in the UK with the Left Handed Giant 11th Birthday Beers: 'Blanc Mange', 'Fondue', & 'Meringue' - three DDH Hazy IPAs brewed in collaboration with Two Flints, Track, & Finland's Factory Brewing
Over the past year we've worked with BESTMALZ to find a way of reducing the colour of our most impactful beers through innovations in their malting process whilst still keeping to the strict German Beer Purity Law (no chemical additives!). These beers are the first of their kind, as we've been given exclusive priority UK access to this very exciting product. The resulting texture, in this context, is rich, fluffy and indulgent and we look forward to seeing how other styles in the range can benefit from this as a base malt.”
Use: Base malt for Pale Ales, Pale Premium Pilsner and Pilsner beers, ‘light’ beers, AND as an enzyme-rich and light-coloured basis for all beer styles.
Rate: Up to 100% of the grain bill.
